EXCERPT

“Don’t you need to go, Holly Jacobs?” Even the way he murmured my name was sexy. This was crazy. Add that to my track record of bad decisions and getting involved with Zack was dumb on an epic level. I was incapable of having a no-strings fling. For me, it was all or nothing, and this time I was going to make the sane decision.

“Why don’t you call me just Holly?” Asking him another question was harmless.

I saw a flash of white teeth in the darkness. “I like your name.” He sounded amused. “Is that okay, Just-Holly?”

Dear God. In the middle of his grief and distress, he still had a sense of humor. I really needed to escape before I found any more reasons to linger. But I didn’t move an inch.

“You sure you don’t want to come back to my place?” His whisper reverberated through me, turning my spine liquid and my knees to jelly. He shifted position slightly and I felt him trailing a hand up my back, the fingertips tiptoeing with excruciating slowness and precision.

“Zack, I don’t do one-night stands.”

“I’m here for two nights.”

EXCERPT

THE CRUSTY-HEARTED MAN (Excerpt from Story No. 15 in Things from Other Worlds)

Outside our town, a few miles from where Jimbo’s gas station used to be, an old man lived all by himself. Everybody knew he was there, but nobody actually knew him. He’d show up a few times a year to buy canned goods at Ruth & Bobby’s, but that was it. Not a soul, not even the oldest soul in town, could remember a time when that man hadn’t been around. He must have been two hundred years old. Some said more like three hundred.
Truth was, he’d been out of touch with people for so long that nobody could remember his name.
He couldn’t even remember his own name. Folks said that a crust had grown over his heart.
The heart’s a funny organ, though. It’s tougher than you’d think, and can survive through pretty much anything. It’s like a tulip bulb. No matter how icy and long the winter is, that little bulb stays alive under the frozen ground until it’s time to shoot up a new sprout, green and full of life.
But for some especially frosty people, there’s rarely enough sunshine to wake up their hearts. It takes something spectacular, maybe even something from another world. I’ll tell you what happened to this old, old man, and you’ll see what I mean.
Nobody wanted to have anything to do with him. Flies and grubs and spiders occasionally tiptoed into the walls of his house, but most were never heard from again. The younger raccoons and rabbits only touched his front stoop on a dare because their parents warned them not to.
“Get away!” the old man would scream hoarsely while shaking a frying pan above his head.
Every living creature, from human on down to bedbug, knew enough to keep off the old man’s property. But that knowledge had not been broadcast across space. So, when an alien landed in a clearing in the woods one late winter afternoon, it didn’t realize what it was up against. It was scared and a little woozy after a rough landing, although it wasn’t afraid. It had been brought up to assume that all beings will do right by each other when given the chance. Poor little thing.
I bet you think an alien is a spindly sort that looks like it’s made of green plastic. Well, not this one. It was furry. Oh, so furry. Picture fur as thick as a polar bear’s and as soft as a mink’s. Now double how thick and soft it is. Now color it blue-green. This deep, soft, dark fur was all over its body, which was short and wide. The alien, standing, came up just past your knees, but was too wide to get your arms around.
It had two giant tangerine-orange toenails on each of its four feet. Its eyes, too, were the color of tangerines, but twice as big. They were very close together in its head, and surrounded by fur, giving it a very intense look. Your average human would probably describe this alien as “the cutest thing I’ve ever seen,” and make a sound that went something like “Awwww.”
Well, this little alien was in need of shelter and food. It didn’t know the plants and animals of our planet, so it shuffled right by some perfectly edible berries and nuts. But it recognized a building when it saw one. And so it approached the old man’s house in the middle of the woods, with hope in its heart but nothing in its belly.
“MMMnnnyonggg,” it called out from the yard. Nothing stirred in the house, but several woodchucks and foxes gathered to watch from a safe distance. The alien trundled up the front steps. Once it caught its fur on the rotting wood, but freed itself like a real trooper. Inside the house, the old man heard a nasal howl.
“MMMnnnyonggg!”
He assumed it was a wolf or an injured bear. “Durn thing’s up on the porch,” said the crusty-hearted man as he pulled his frying pan down from its nail. “I’ll teach ʼem whose house this is.”
The old man shoved the front door open so hard it smacked against the rotten siding. A few shingles crumbled and fell. The woodland creatures watching the show skittered deeper into the shadows, fearing what would come next.
But the alien didn’t move. It didn’t know it was supposed to be afraid of the sound of wood smacking wood, or the sight of a two-legged earthling holding a round metal object. It assumed this was either a way to say “hello,” or else a communication device telling the whole planet about its arrival. Those were the only options that made sense to the alien. Widening its eyes and puffing up its fur, it tried to look as friendly as possible.
For his part, the old man was so puzzled that he forgot to swing the pan. “You’re not a bear,” he accused the blue-green furry thing. “You’re sure not a wolf. What are you? Gorilla?”
The alien didn’t know what the word “gorilla” meant, but it enjoyed the sound, so it waddled a little closer to the cool-talking human.
“GGgggrrrrill,” said the alien, trying to fit in.
The old man just snorted and slammed the door, leaving the alien alone on the porch.

Jaycie Wharry is one of gaming’s most infamous reviewers—under the intentionally vague pseudonym J-Dub. Most of her friends didn’t even know what she really did for a living. Then again, one in particular was missing a few solder points in his neural circuits, and she traded that life in as fast as she could when his infatuation with her translated into a threat to her safety. “Answer me completely honestly.”

“Like I’ve been doing all night?”

She raised her brows. Could he hear her heart hammering against her ribs? “Am I just a conquest, or are you actually interested in me?”

All traces of teasing dropped from his face, and he pulled her hand toward him. “You aren’t just anything, and definitely not a conquest. You’re fascinating and intelligent and witty and gorgeous, and ‘interested’ in you is such an understatement, it’s almost rude.”

She’d expected he’d probably come up with the right answer sooner rather than later. It was a leading question. What she hadn’t expected was such an immediate and passionate response.

He searched her face. “Was that it?”

“Yes.” She wasn’t sure she trusted herself to say more. “Your turn.”

“I desperately want to tangle my fingers in your hair, and kiss you again.”

Ethan’s voice had dropped an octave, and his gaze held her captive.

Heat flooded her, warming every inch of her skin, and searing her nerves. She pushed all thought aside, shifted her weight to her knees, leaned in, and brushed her lips over his. She pulled back enough to look him in the eye. “Truth.” Her voice barely reached her own ears.

Books on tour - The nanny and enrolling little etta

2016 Blitz Banner

BOOK INFORMATION

The Nanny Authors: Allison West and Alta Hensley Publisher: Blushing Books Genre: Age-Play, Victorian

The Nanny - CoverBOOK SYNOPSIS

The taboo The secret The discipline The Nanny…finally, her story.

When street urchin Georgiana Hayes meets a mysterious gentleman who offers her a warm meal and a chance to get warm again, she cannot resist. The man who has rescued her from the cold is, in fact, Mr. Philip Hartley; the headmaster of the Ashby Chateau – a finishing school, and a place where young ladies can learn to submit and rediscover their inner ‘little’ selves. He is looking for a new nanny, and is quick to offer the position to Georgiana.

Georgiana accepts gratefully, and she instantly becomes The Nanny.

Unfortunately, she soon realizes that she is not really cut out for the role of disciplinarian. If anything, she finds herself beginning to envy the girls under her care, and wishes that she, too, could experience what it would be like to be little; to be cherished, cared for, and loved.

Theodore Elliott, a well-established businessman, is seeking a wife, and has craved the special love and affection of a ‘little’ for as long as he can remember. The moment he sets eyes on Nanny Giana, he knows without a doubt that she is the one he has been searching for. No other little at the school can compare to the dark-haired beauty.

Can Theo convince the headmaster to allow Giana to resign from her position as governess and enroll in the Ashby Chateau as a little? More importantly, is Giana willing to take that step for a man she barely knows but is intrigued by? Can she surrender herself physically, emotionally and sexually in order to become what Theo desires above all else: his little Gia?

From the authors of the best-selling ‘Enrolling Little Etta’, this next book in the Ashby Chateau series also contains elements of age-play, anal play, spanking, and graphic sex. While The Nanny does feature some characters and settings from Enrolling Little Etta, it should be noted that it can be read as a standalone.

EXCERPT

Nanny Beth stepped forward and ripped the cotton bloomers down Teresa's legs. The paddle extended from her hand and she landed the face of the wood across the young woman's bottom.

Crack.

The wood made a loud blistering sound as it landed on her bare posterior.

"Oww!" Teresa yelped as she tried to get away. Nanny Beth continued to paddle her wiggling behind two more times, appearing as if it took no effort at all.

Nanny Beth grabbed her by the wrist and held her so she was not able to run. "I suggest you grip the edge of the bathtub, child. Nanny Giana will finish the paddling, and perhaps next time you will think twice before causing such a scene."

Beth handed Giana the paddle and nodded toward the young woman's reddened bottom.

Giana did not think she had it in her to spank anyone, let alone a grown woman.

Teresa bent forward, her head down as she pushed her bottom out and gripped the edge of the bathtub, leaning forward. Her dress fell over her hips, exposing her once creamy complexion, which was now splotched pink from the paddle.

Nanny Beth waited for the discipline to ensue as Giana merely stood in shock. "She must learn that she takes orders from her nanny, which is you. She receives at least as many spanks as her regressed age. Tell Nanny Giana how old you are, and do not lie, child," Beth commanded.

"Seven," Teresa squeaked, her voice hardly above a whisper.

She was supposed to spank Teresa seven times? She did not think she had it in her to spank her once. At least the paddle would keep her own hand from walloping with pain.

"Usually, I would recommend the bare hand, but Teresa has been a naughty girl, and after the number of bare bottom spankings she received earlier, the paddle will remind her that tomorrow she will not want to disobey her nanny," Beth said. She looked at Giana with a stern expression. "Go on now, we do not have all night."

Excerpt

Philip followed Jack into the dining room and was quite surprised to see a lovely woman, a few years younger than him, sitting quietly and alone at the table. She was holding up her fork, glancing at her reflection in the silver. She looked quite lovely and nervous; her hand twitched at the realization that someone else had entered the room. Her long blonde hair flowed down her back and moved with her like a kiss from the wind, caressing her skin, as she turned her head to see what the commotion was all about.

As soon as her crystal blue eyes met his, she dropped the utensil on the table. It made a clanking sound as she pushed her chair back to stand.

"I do not believe we've met," Philip said, walking toward her, offering his hand. His eyes moved over her perfect creamy complexion and down to the dusting of freckles on her neck that dipped down to just above her breasts, where her gown prevented any further glimpse of her skin.

"My name is Etta Waters, sir."
Philip glanced from Etta to Jack. "You did not tell me you had a daughter."
"She is my niece," Jack said, quick to clarify his position. "My brother passed away a short time ago. Henrietta has come to live here with me, until I can find her a proper home. She has just arrived."

She watched him strongarm himself of out the wheelchair and onto the couch. She quickly sat down beside him, placing the beer bottle aside, and shifted her body toward his. She breathed in the scent of him. His smell was so unique: the earthy scent of the woods, and all man. One of those manly men who could fix an engine motor, and then tell a woman exactly what he wanted done to him in bed.

“What are you doing here, Dani? With me?” His eyes seemed to stare through her, as though he could hear her thoughts.

“I think you’re hot, Griffin.” Is he blushing? She felt a grin tug at the sides of her mouth.

“And I want to fuck you until you don’t remember your own name.” His eyes lowered as he looked at her lips. “But that doesn’t explain what you’re doing here. Did someone put you up to this, or do you get off on handicapped men?”

“Neither of those. Let’s explore that first suggestion of me forgetting my name.” She met those incredible hazel eyes of his.

One large hand grabbed the back of her head and yanked her forward, then his lips were on hers. Her mouth opened and his tongue met hers. He didn’t bother with a polite probing, he conquered her mouth, angling his head sideways to go deeper. Her body recognized the taste of him before her mind did. At 48 years old, she had found her mate.

Hi! I'm a New York Times Bestselling author from the Midwestern United States. I'm an avid reader of anything romance! I've worked as a travel agent, nursing assistant, and a paralegal before chasing my dream of full-time writing. I love to travel, swim, cook, and I'm more than a little addicted to a certain social media website...

Currently, I write paranormal and science-fiction romance. My plan is to branch out in several romance sub-genres, but my books will always end in the infamous happily ever after.

Always hot, always sexy, my male characters will protect their women at all costs, and my female characters will be... I like to call it "feisty." I believe every story and character should be unique, and it’s something I always strive to do.

Reading should be an escape from everyday life, so I hope you enjoy my version of a vacation for you!

Fun facts about me: 1. I love birds! I have one (a parakeet). 2. I’m double-jointed, which led to teasing as a kid (which I also found funny)! 3. I have a shoe addiction! Mainly embellished flip-flops, but other kinds too (not heels, I’d break my ankles). 4. I missed a college 4.0 GPA in the very last semester when one professor gave me a B (still upset about that!)! 5. I am very OCD about certain things (see #6). 6. I have an extensive DVD/Blu-ray collection and it has to be kept in alphabetical order! 7. My favorite vacations involve a cruise. I’ve been on 15 so far! 8. I’m quiet and sort of shy until I get to know a person. 9. I’m quick witted and believe sarcasm is my best friend. 10. I hate hot weather.

EXCERPT

Two cops, one a loose cannon by anyone’s definition, the other a straight arrow…
After dancing around their attraction, Jace McClune and Nick Nowak give in to lust, leaving Jace riding an emotional rollercoaster. When a torturous training session with a dom reveals far more about where Nick stands and what lengths he’ll go to in order to protect his partner, Jace probes Nick for answers.
“Can I ask you something?” I was taking a chance, pushing him, but he wasn’t the only one wanting to know. “Do you care about me?”
“What kind of question is that?” He stared out the windshield, suddenly very engrossed in the flow of pedestrians darting in and around the idling vehicles.
“It’s not a trick question.” Oh, but it was, and way more than idle curiosity drove me to push for it.
Carelessly, he flipped his fingers on the steering wheel, doing his best to answer without answering. Finally he sputtered, “Well, uh…”
“So, you do care.” I kept my voice even, not putting any emphasis that might indicate I was being derogatory or snarky or worse … teasing.
“Sure. Yeah.” It was neither a sure, nor was it a definite yes. It was more an oh fuck, this can’t be happening.
Even though he turned away to hide his expression, with his dark olive complexion, the blush was easy to detect on his neck and ears. He was lying like a dog. Or more to the point, he was telling a half-truth, one that had me scouring the Jeep for a paper bag to keep me from hyperventilating. I was having a teenage girl, fucking hormone attack—a spasm of giddy, throw flower petals in the air he loves me, he really loves me moment.
It was a good thing he’d handed my service revolver back, because now I could shoot myself and be done with it.
McClune and Lopez may not understand what’s happening between them, but one thing they know for sure: they are partners, and partners have each other’s backs.

Feeling slightly light headed from lack of oxygen, I suck in a deep breath, letting it out shakily as I see the emotion he talks of in his eyes. “I have loved you from the moment you cared for Lothar, a male you didn’t know, as sweetly as if he were your lover. You are beautiful, honest, and have the tenderest heart of anyone I know. I want to be around you and with you more than anyone else in my life.” Orion pauses, and after a deep breath, he cups my face in his big hands and breathes, “I love you, Mallory, please believe me.” He wipes the tears that are still falling from my cheeks with his thumbs, looking intently at me as I sputter, “But . . . but there is nothing here for you.” He frowns for a second then seems to understand what I am saying. “That’s why you are hurting.” He pulls me into his arms, holding me close, and it feels like he is putting me back together, one piece at a time. His expression is pained when he pulls back. “There is nothing for me to do here, for the moment, that’s what I meant. I just want you safe, I don’t know how I could live if something happened to you.” Relief so great spreads through me making my body tingle, and I slump a little realizing that what I heard was not at all what he meant, and after the relief comes the familiar love that I have been pushing back. “I love you too, Orion. Though it scares me,” I whisper. Orion tenses then forces my chin up to look at him. “I would never leave you willingly, never. I want all of you, always.”

CHARACTER BIOS

Rosa: Hi! I’m Rosa. I’m 15 years old and a sophomore in high school. I’m your typical teenager—well, almost. I don’t have many friends anymore, but it’s hard to blame the other kids. If I was them, I’d probably steer clear of me too, at least most of the time. No one is ever mean to me; I’ve grown up with most of them, and on my bad days, they try to ignore me. Wish I could do the same to those who talk to me. Mostly I just shake my head and carry on. It helps that I have a sarcastic sense of humor.
My daily life consists of trying to pass all my classes, getting a date for school dances, and dealing with Nana’s gift nearly every day while I try not to lose my mind.
Tut: My name is Nebkheperure Tutanhkame. I ascended the throne of Egypt upon the death of my father, Pharaoh Akhenaten. There has been much speculation in modern day on my death. My concern is finding the final resting place of my beloved queen, Ankhesenamun and making right that which was wronged centuries ago.

EXCERPT

Before us, nearly filling up the room and taller than either of us, stands the golden shrine of Tutankhamun. I remembered what else lay in that room. Inside that shrine are three more, each a bit smaller than the outside one. All tucked inside each other like those nesting dolls from my grandmother’s childhood. Inside the last shrine were the four sarcophagi of Tut, each displaying him in golden and jeweled splendor.
The last one holds the famed mask of the golden boy. And beneath that, the body of the young pharaoh who now stands here before me. Beyond my understanding, he has been given back his human form, allowed to return one last time to restore honor to his family, one last time to find his true love. And here I am, trying to help, trying to understand, trying to stay alive. Will I ever be able to go home again? Or will I become as lost as Hesena?

Tutankhamun - Cover

BOOK SYNOPSIS

2014 EVVY Merit Award for Historical Fiction from CIPA (Colorado Independent Publishers Assoc.)
Long ago the old texts of ancient Egypt alluded to scrolls in which King Tut spoke to the people from beyond the tomb. Many archeologists put this down to an incorrect translation of the ancient Egyptian texts. Others swore to the accuracy of the translation. None of that mattered because the scrolls in question could not be found. Scholars labeled it a hoax, something that never existed. It was ludicrous to imagine someone speaking from the grave. They were wrong on both accounts.

Excerpts

My Grandmother My nursemaid was Maya, but it was my Grandmother Tiye that I remember the most. She doted on me when she visited and showered me with motherly love. She appointed herself and her brother Ay as my protectors, but Grandmother was away a lot. After my father became Pharaoh, she continued to oversee the military as she did for my grandfather Amenhotep III. When I was small, she cut off a lock of her reddish-gold hair and concealed it inside of four small nesting sarcophagus coffins.
“Tutankhaten,” she said. “In the innermost sarcophagus I have placed a lock of my hair which rests underneath a solid gold statue of you. Keep the coffins safe and hidden in your room. They will protect you when I am unable to.”
I thanked her and prized such a gift, not only for protection, but because my grandmother’s gift was wonderfully made. The outer sarcophagus was made of wood; the second of plaster covered with gold leaf; the third of wood which contained the solid gold statue of myself; the fourth again of plaster covered with gold leaf and containing my grandmother’s gift.

Sloth
Miss Lila Radley was set to be the belle of the ball this summer. With her charming manners, beautiful looks and excellent connections, everyone anticipated her receiving endless proposals.
However, no one expected her to be kidnapped.
After she witnesses a murder, Lila finds herself in the hands of two overwhelmingly attractive brothers—entirely against her will. However, while the twin Cynfell brothers might be as devastating in looks as each other, only one intrigues her—the brooding Lord Ash Cynfell.
Unfortunately, he is the very reason she is in danger.
Already battling with his own demons, Ash finds himself with an additional burden to bear—Miss Lila Radley’s safety. He cannot very well abandon her as it was due to his inaction that a man ended up dead and a serial killer is now targeting her. Unfortunately, keeping the vivacious Lila protected until the murderer is found is going to test him in every way possible.
Can he resist her charm and beauty, aware a worthless man like himself is no good for a woman like her? EXCERPT

“What were you thinking?”
Ash narrowed his gaze at Harris. “There’s a serial killer out there. A powerful and dangerous one.”
His brother paced in front of him while Ash sat on a chair too small for his build outside of the bedroom.
The bedroom that held a currently enraged Lila. The crashes of furniture had stopped only a short while ago. It seemed no one had noticed that Lila had gone. Her family, according to Harris, had assumed she’d retreated to bed. They were, as his brother said, a little scatter-brained.
He couldn’t deny he had come to that conclusion from his short acquaintance with them, but Harris spent more time in society so his opinion was likely correct.
So that at least gave him time to decide what to with Miss Lila Radley.
Pin her to the bed and kiss away her fury?
He smirked to himself. No. Tempting as that was, he suspected that would only increase her ire. Since she’d awoken from her faint, she’d been full of fire. He wouldn’t tell her that he had enjoyed picking up her soggy form and carrying her to his brother’s carriage far more than he should have done. He also certainly wouldn’t mention how she’d curled a hand around his neck and burrowed herself against him.
He released a sigh. If it wasn’t enough he’d already near fallen for her on sight, she was now appealing to his need to protect. There was nothing quite like being needed by the opposite sex. And when she’d tucked her face into his neck, he’d been lost.

My review

I love me some Cynfell brothers! Definitely historical romance at it’s best.

Ash Cynfell suffers from intense migraines that keeps him bed-ridden more than he likes. His identical twin brother, Harris, think it is from drinking too much.

Harris comes to Ash’s house, reminding him that he had challenged Fred Westerling to a duel. Westerling is a unsavory man who has been known to take unwanted liberties with women. Ash catches him in such a manner with a lady and challenges him to the duel.

Ash and Harris are met by a stumbling Westerling and realize he has been shot, trying to get information on who had shot him, becomes difficult as the man falls to the ground and dies on the spot. It’s when Ash hears the scream of a woman and rushes over to see a knife-wielding man attacking her. He fights the man off and turns his attention to the woman, he now knows he must protect at whatever cost.

Lila is a green eyed beauty who knows well of the Cynfell brothers reputation and is not about to fall for the handsome man. But when Ash informs her that the murder she had just witnessed had been done by a serial killer, she has no choice but to put her trust in Ash Cynfell. What will become of these two? You will have to read to find out.
